Route suggestion

Introduction/Additional information:

Route suggestion allows for a shore authority to suggest a route segment to a vessel.
Broadcasting 16 waypoints will result in a 5-slot message. It is recommended to avoid messages with more than 3 slots, equivalent to no more than 7 waypoints.

Repeat Indicator 2 Used by the repeater to indicate how many times a message has been repeated.

Source ID 30 MMSI number of source station.
Sequence Number 2 0 – 3; refer to ITU-R M.1371-3, Annex 2, § 5.3.1.
Destination ID 30 MMSI number of destination station.
Retransmit Flag 1 Retransmit Flag should be set upon retransmission.

0 = no retransmission = default

1 = retransmitted

Spare 1 Not used. Set to zero.
IAI 16 DAC = 219; FI = 2
Message Linkage ID 10 A source specific running number, unique across all binary messages equipped with Message Linkage ID. Used to link additional information to the message by a Text Description message. The Message Linkage ID and the first six digits of the source MMSI uniquely identify the sent message.

Furthermore the id is a unique identifier for the route suggestion. Each route suggestion must use a unique identifier. Subsequent responses to the suggestion will use this identifier.

Route Type 5 1 = mandatory route

2 = recommended route

3 = alternative route

ETA first WP   A proposed ETA at the first waypoint. This allows a timing dimension in the suggestion.

Duration 18 Minutes from ETA at first waypoint to ETA at the last waypoint. The duration allows for the calculation of an average proposed speed on the suggested route.
