Workshop on Sustainable Light and Power for the Next Generation

The workshop, which IALA will host in association with the German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration, will take place in the picturesque city of Koblenz, Germany (Koblenz Kongress Centre, Julius-Wegeler Strasse 4, 56068 Koblenz).

Registered participants are kindly requested to arrive in time to receive their registration badges, at 1300 – 1400 hours on Monday 20 March 2017.  The workshop will finish at 12 noon on Friday 24 March.

The workshop, which will be conducted in English, will provide opportunities to review the innovative work that has been undertaken by IALA members within areas such as light source technology and applications, sustainable provision of aids to navigation (AtoNs), energy generation and storage technology and management, as well as the design and management of AtoN systems.

Presentations will cover various aspects relevant to fixed and floating AtoNs, such as LED light sources and applications, wind, solar and wave energy, battery technology, charging and management, fuel cells, and system management.

The programme will include discussion periods and the intent is to facilitate work on draft IALA documentation and make recommendations for areas of further work. A technical visit to the WSV light laboratory is also planned, with a number of practical demonstrations.
