World-Wide Academy Activities
The last few months of 2019 were very busy for the IALA World-Wide Academy with four Level 1.1 Marine Aids to Navigation Manager courses taking place online as well as in China, Suriname, India, Canada and France. A large number of people from many countries achieved international certification as Marine Aids to Navigation Managers having studied and completed examinations in both the operational and technical aspects of aids to navigation implementation. The course equips the participants with the knowledge and skill to meet the Marine Aids to Navigation requirements of the SOLAS Convention and the IALA Standards.
The Level 1.1 Marine Aids to Navigation Manager course is now well established and attracts a wide range of participants from around the world. The course is available at a number of Accredited Training Organisations world-wide, including by distance learning through the IALA World-Wide Academy.
The course has recently been updated to make the final element of the course, module three, completely based around a real-life aids to navigation implementation case study to bring the operational and technical theories and principles to life through the practical use of the IALA standards. The course is being further boosted by a new series of text books which explain all elements of the programme in an easy to understand and informative manner. The text books provide an ideal bridge between the course content and the IALA standards to enable the students to effectively implement what they have learnt.
The courses for 2020 will be promoted on the IALA website and the next distance learning course will commence in March.
